I am starting a dates night with my Daughter Leah, who for those of you who don't know is my 9 years old girl. I often think, what her life will be when she starts her journey with boys. Like most dads this is something that scares the shit out of us. Yes i said it shit. This is a PG-13 blog today. My goal of date night is, to not be a dad, telling her what she should be, what to look for in friends or tell her how she should demand to be treated in her life, but to show her. As i would take my wife out and treat her like a lady with Respect, Tradition, to Care and Protect. Things I pride my self on in my relation ship with Siw, (my wife of 10 years). I hope Leah does see that in the way I act to her mom but also, let her see it in the way I treat her as well. So our dates are set up as so. She pics the night, makes all choices on what we will do and I make it my mission to go above and beyond as a man should. Respect, Care , LISTEN TO HER, Speak Honestly and Try to be a role model for what I hope she will then look for in any relationship she has. I do know she is only 9 but I tell you kids grow up SO fast. I feel this will help us over the next 5 years and by the time she is in "boy drama" in her life as girls normally will. I then have laid a foundation or an example of what she should look for. I just think that as a parent telling our kids what do, will only go so far. Talk can often be so cheap. So action is where I place some of my fate. Lead by example. LEAD BY EXAMPLE. I say again. So wish me luck. Fate and insiration which is two things of most importance to me will guide our way.
Tonight we went to see Tim Butron's Alice in Wonderland, also shopped for new kicks, (DC) and had some dinner. I must say she picked a perfect night for me :)
